Istanbul is the largest and the most beautiful city in Turkey. It is sometimes also referred to as "Constantinople". Istanbul is located to the North West side of the Marmara region in Turkey. It is considered as Turkey’s main platform and hub for culture, architecture, history and financial strategies. Istanbul is one such city that is located on two different continents. Therefore, it is described to own mysterious beauty of ancient Ottoman Empire and has been innovated in architecture for the time being. Turkey has very high percentage of humidity with mild summers but winters are very cold, windy and snow is very often in the city during winter season. The city is slightly hot and humid in the months of May to September. With a humidity percentage of about 79 per cent, this will make you feel sultry. Winters start from October and remain until April. The city receives the rainfall and snow during the months of December, January, February and March. Maximum temperatures during summers can be up to 25 degrees while in summers mostly at nights it can also fall below freezing point.


Istanbul is economically strong city as it has a very high impact in the overall Turkish economy. Istanbul is the city that is very rich in the production of cotton, tobacco, silk and many other products. The city has also gained importance economically because it hosts all the sea ports of Turkey and also international airports. Istanbul also has some of the major industries of Turkey, which includes Rubber industry, metal ware, chemicals, leather, transport vehicles industries, glass and many others. The city also generates its revenue from the tourism department.

Turkey is unique in its own way. It has been home to all three great religions – Judaism, Christianity and Islam. 99 per cent of people in Turkey are Muslims. Istanbul is also the historic seat of Ecumenical Orthodox Patriarchate.

With the changing times, Istanbul is becoming more and more colorful in terms of its rich social, cultural and commercial activities. At one place world famous pop stars fill stadiums, while on the other hand, activities like opera, ballet and theatre continue throughout the year. During seasonal festivals, world famous orchestras, chorale ensembles, concerts and jazz legends can be found often playing to a full house.
